The Bug

Marisa, Chair of the BURN Arts Committee has an important message about growing our Event Production Team in 2019-2020...

To the Modifyre Community,

You’ll notice in this issue of Bug Spray that we’ve been doing lots of thinking about both our collective future and the future of Modifyre.

I can only speak for myself when I say why I put lots of precious energy into this burn-thing. It’s because I love the people behind Modifyre as much as I love Modifyre itself (which is screaming with potential to help save the world through the perfect party). However, to prevent volunteer burnout as we get bigger, our team also needs to grow in a solid and meaningful way this year.

Many of our current team leads in high-responsibility roles have been heavily involved in Modifyre for a number of years now. Many of these leads will be looking to either take a step back or do a different role in 2020. Many of them are also still doing multiple roles and are looking to take that number down so they can better contribute to a single role.

We need folks who can make a multi-year commitment for these roles to ensure stability of the event, without which we cannot continue to grow. The lead up to and during our Modifyre 2019 burn is a perfect opportunity to have enthusiastic team members shadow or join our team to learn the ropes and take on a role in 2020.

It’s an exciting time to get involved; we’re four years in and we’ve already made the biggest mistakes for you! We now have great systems in place to let you run with them and bring your unique perspective.

Shoot us a message at volunteer@modifyre.org if you’re keen, and you can chat with one of our fabulous facilitators to match-make your interests with potential teams.

Burn Bright, Marisa
