Update: BURN Arts Strategic Planning

The Bug

A special report from Dan, BURN Arts’ Secretary and Modifyre 2019 Medics co-lead, reporting on the happenings at the BURN Arts Strategic Planning session last month...

On February 2nd, 2019 sixteen brave souls took a journey facilitated by Fiona Maxwell, CEO of the Brisbane Powerhouse, to vision the future of Modifyre and BURN Arts!

In the coming weeks and months more detail and planning sessions will take shape; but in short; we reviewed the Strengths and Opportunities for our community; while being mindful of the threats we face.

We heard from those members of our community that live outside of Brisbane; and how remoter locations make it hard to participate. That was very powerful to hear, and we are now trying to grow a network of regional representatives around Queensland and Northern NSW (more on that below) in the hopes that more local events can take place expanding our reach, culture and opportunities to be involved.

We discussed reaching out to form connections with Burns of a similar scale to Modifyre around the southeast Asia region, as well as better connections with our community in Brisbane and neighbouring regions who may not even know we exist!

With opportunities to bring artists and artwork throughout Queensland and other like-minded communities; our future is looking bright! Keep an eye on www.modifyre.org and our social media channels for more on planning session outcomes soon!
